The True 3-Coat Portland Cement System Anatomy

We do not cut corners with fast 1-coat synthetic shortcuts. Every new stucco installation follows Florida Building Code Chapter 25 for 7/8" nominal total thickness.

01

Dual Water-Resistive Barrier (WRB)

Two distinct planes of heavy-duty weather barrier installed shingle-lap to direct any intruding moisture outward to the foundation weep screed.

ASTM E2556 / 60-Minute Grade D
02

Expanded Metal Lath & Accessories

Mechanically fastened into wall framing studs with corrosion-resistant screws. Includes zinc corner beads and control joints to manage expansion.

2.5 or 3.4 lb/sq yd Galvanized Steel
03

3/8" Scratch Coat (Base Plane)

Troweled fully through lath keys and horizontally scored to provide mechanical interlocking keys for the subsequent coat. 48-hr moist cure.

ASTM C926 Portland Cement + Fiber
04

3/8" Brown Coat (Leveling Plane)

Brought true to grounds and screeded flush to create a dead-flat, plumb exterior surface. Hydration-cured for maximum compressive strength.

ASTM C926 Precision Float
05

1/8" Architectural Finish Coat

The final visible texture layer (knockdown, sand-float, smooth or lace) with UV-stable pigments that never fade or chalk under Florida sun.
